Warren G. Lizio - Board of Assessors

March 29th @ 4:00pm - JOIN US at the Kick Off Party at Heritage Hall!

Fairness. Respect. Integrity.

As a Milton neighbor and father of two young children, I am committed to the responsibilities that come with serving on the Board.

Professionalism, courtesy, and competence are the core values of the Board of Assessors, and they matter. Property taxes represent 66% of Milton's total revenue. Getting valuations right is what every Milton taxpayer deserves.

My Experience: I own a commercial and residential property management firm where I work with small to medium property owners who need expertise, reliability, and peace of mind. Many are retired small investors entrusting me with their largest investment. Previously, I served as Director of Property Management at a real estate company overseeing apartment communities and office parks throughout New England.

With over 2,500 units permitted in Milton and more on the way, I will work to ensure Milton captures its fair share of tax revenue to support our schools, public servants, roads, and community at large.

F.A.Q. | The Board of Assessors

Warren, why are you excited about the Board of Appeals?

Long before the idea of running crossed my mind, I was already watching Board of Assessors meetings. I have a deep passion for understanding every facet of real estate — because every piece of property has a real impact on the people who live, work, and play on it. Add to that my enjoyment for 'running numbers' and finding new ways to help people, and when this seat opened up, the decision was a no-brainer. I'm ready to step up and serve our town of Milton.

What does the Board of Assessors do?

In brief: The Board of Assessors values every property in Milton, administers tax exemptions for seniors and veterans, and hears appeals from residents who believe their assessment is unfair.

It's primary functions are threefold:

  1. Property Valuation — It determines the fair market value of all real property, working with the Town's Assessing Department. This includes residential and commercial

  2. Tax Assessment — Once the Select Board determines how much revenue is needed to fund town operations, the Board of Assessors calculates the tax rate to meet that budget and applies it to each property's assessed value.

  3. Hearing Appeals —The board serves as a resource for property owners by reviewing appeals and making fair adjustments when needed. It also assists seniors, veterans, and low-income residents in accessing exemptions, abatements, and payment assistance programs that can reduce or ease their tax burden.

How do new developments affect the rest of us as taxpayers?

Every new development puts demand on our roads, schools, and town services. I am focused on making sure those properties are assessed accurately so that they contribute their fair share to our Town's revenue - not just to our tax base, but to the community they are becoming part of. Property taxes presently contribute 66% of the Milton's revenue.

When I vote for you, Warren, can you give me a break on my taxes?

If you bring me a warm chicken parm from Blasi's cafe....you'll get a big smile. But that's it! The Board of Assessors doesn't set your tax bill — that's determined by the town's budget. What we do is make sure your property is assessed fairly and accurately. An over-assessed property means you're paying more than your share, and that's not right. My focus will be on ensuring every property in Milton is valued correctly, so the tax burden is distributed equitably.
